Unmaitained-gutterThis winter has been very different from the winters that we have been experiencing lately. This time last year our kids in the public school system had missed several days of school and we had experienced several pretty significant snow falls.

At this point I know that you are probably wondering why in the world facts that you already know to be true from the last several winters.

The reason is this: You have time to prepare your home, namely your roof for the winter that is going to happen, like it or not.

So, while the weather is still warm, we encourage you to check a few things out to make sure that everything is in order before the first snow fall hits.

Make sure your gutters are clear

If your trees were anything like mine the leaves hung on for a lot longer than they typically do.  If you don’t feel comfortable getting up on the ladder and clearing out your gutter call a professional to come and do it.

Make sure your gutters are secure.

Are you picking up on the trend here? The gutters can be a big headache if everything isn’t in order with them. Take a look at the way that your gutters are hanging on the house. Do you see any sagging? If you do, it might be time to call a professional to come out and take a look at the problem.

Check for loose or broken shingles.

Now is a good time to make sure that all of your shingles are in good shape. Do you see any that are not flush with the rest of the shingles? Have you picked up scraps of shingles from your yard? Those are warning signs of a bigger issue.

Anytime that these potential warning signs show up be sure to call Eclipse Contracting and Restoration, we would love to help you out!
